Cordova, New Mexico Road Runner

Cordova Road Runner

Chip-carved Road Runner 12" long. A great example of the Cordova school of woodcarvers from New Mexico.

This road runner made of aspen shows the use of a unique carving style that has been practiced for generations in Cordova, a village in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northern New Mexico.

Carved by Chris Ortiz, husband of Sabinita Lopez Ortiz. Signed on the bottom.

See "The Wood Carvers of Cordova New Mexico" by Charles L. Briggs.
